The Build of Hatred

Written by:

Two souls tied;
Two bodies joined at the hip;
Two lovers locked in a delicate dance,
What dance? One may ask

It’s the Salsa, one where trust and understanding lead every twist, glide and foot change.
That’s what I love most about the salsa.
You can always see when the duet is on good terms
Its clear as glass when they aren’t.

Secrets, pride, misunderstandings and lies will do that.
Do what exactly?

They’ll cast a shadow of doubt,
Slowly eroding the foundation,
Spreading poison like blood through veins.

Like hades’ ember,
Envy begins to burn,
Whispers of deception take a twisted turn.
The flames of resentment ignite,
Fueled by deceit,
And then those once vibrant bodies succumb to a bitter defeat-
The slow and steady build of hatred.

One of the bodies is usually sad to be caught in this tangled web of despair,
Their heart heavy with sorrow,
Burdened by the affair.
Questioning their own judgment,
Their own naivety,
Feeling sorry for they role i played in the tragedy.
That’s usually the “right” one
Though, looking in closely,
There’s hardly ever is a right one.

Then they both think over the next set of questions
Are they worth it? Am I worth it? Can I forgive? Do I need to apologize?
Do I love this person?
More often than not; the answer to the first 4 vary
But the 5th is 99.99% of the time YES

In the Aftermath of the anger
So as not to lose that bond
Their love is rekindled
Cause even when friendships are cloaked in darkness and gloom,
From the depths of pain and anger,
There will always lie an opportunity,
To heal
To grow.
To let the wounds slowly mend.

And with each step towards healing,
From the ashes of their previous hate,
They slowly return to-
Two souls tied;
Two bodies joined at the hip;
Two lovers locked in a delicate dance.
